creating safe AYAHUASCA RETREATs
Providing a safe space for people to work with Ayahuasca is our main priority with doing this work and we take it very seriously. This is reflected in all aspects of working with us; from our initial video call and our comprehensive medical & psychological screening form, to our dietary preparation support and our purposefully small groups of six or fewer participants.
It is our guiding force, to create a solid and protective container for everyone, including ourselves for each one night Ayahuasca ceremony or our three, five or seven day Ayahuasca retreats.
CREATING A Safe Space to Heal
We take safety seriously, because this work asks a great deal of trust.
Working with any plant medicine is not without its risks, however set and setting can be key to your overall experience, including the levels of safety you felt before, during and after. Creating safe plant medicine spaces is the guiding force of the healing work we offer, this is by design and has been carefully crafted through our years of experience and continued training.
Our team is trauma-informed, first aid trained and our screening process is careful and personal, so we can be sure the work is right for you before you join. We keep ceremonies to six guests or fewer, which lets us offer close guidance and a high standard of care throughout.
And although we sit in the rainforest, the nearest health clinic & town is only 20 minutes away.
We are also a verified centre on journeyaya.com, an independent resource that lists safe and trusted places to drink ayahuasca.
What We Do To Create Safety
in safe hands for your ayahuasca journey
-

OUR EXPERIENCE
Our journey with Ayahuasca started 15 years ago, and we have been working with Ayahuasca and other psychedelics for over 10 years facilitating retreats and ceremonies.
Working together as a husband and wife team creates balance and accountability and provides both masculine and feminine support and energy within our approach to this work.
Helping people to feel at ease, reassured and relaxed going into ceremony can make a big difference to their ability to navigate the journey.
-

MENTORSHIP
Following the Shipibo-Konibo indigenous lineage provides structure and a defined way of working with the plants. It’s grounded in generational wisdom and long standing ancestral practices.
We are committed to life long learning with the Shipibo as dedicated apprentices to serving Ayahuasca. This involves regular master plant diets with other plants, to learn from them and work with them as allies in ceremony.
Neil also works with Noya Rao, and is a life long student of this tree. It provides a path of integrity, alignment and balance, and asks him to uphold the highest of standards and brings him back to this path when needed.
-

TRAUMA INFORMED
We have a deeper understanding of trauma having undergone training to learn about the nervous system and how trauma impacts trauma responses. During our screening process and the ceremony itself, we can recognise triggers and responses whilst implementing appropriate steps to reduce harm and create an environment conducive to healing.
We operate from a consensual standpoint, with all activities, touch and ceremonial work offered, are through personal choice and sovereignty is always respected.
We are not the healers, we provide the space and are the vessels for Ayahuasca to work through. The people who come and drink with us are their own healers.
-

ROBUST SCREENING
Anyone who wants to work with us goes through our screening and intake process. This starts with the initial enquiry, followed by a video call, completion of our medical and psychological screening form, a second call if needed and only then will we confirm your place.
This process is crucial for a number of reasons: so that we can ensure we are the right fit for the person, do we have the necessary skills and experience, are there any medical issues or contradictions to be aware of, what types of trauma might show up, and how can we best support the person. Lack of safety in ceremony can largely be mitigated by a thorough screening process.
-

GROUP SIZES
We’ve sat in and facilitated large Ayahuasca ceremonies in the past for 25+ people, and feel strongly that is not the way we want to work with this medicine.
Our retreats are for six or fewer guests and our individual ceremonies are for three people or fewer or one to one.
We feel this is the best way for us to work with Ayahuasca, we are able to offer a high level of care in ceremony with a maximum ratio of 1:3. Our ceremonies tend to be calm and well contained, with solid protection of the space. This allow us to work with high levels of integrity and alignment of our values. We are the ones that serve the medicine and guide the ceremony.
-

PREPARATION & INTEGRATION
We provide support throughout your journey with us. This includes a guide on diet, blog and video resources for preparing for ceremony, preparation call, 121 pre ceremony guidance, post ceremony integration circle and a follow up integration video call once you are home.
We also work with other practitioners who are certified psychologists, that have experience with working with psychedelics, who we recommend. Integration is the most important aspect of working with Ayahuasca, how are you going to take what you have learnt and apply it to your life. You may need some additional support and structure to help land your experience over the following six months to a year.

We hold every retreat in a group of six guests or fewer. This is one of the most important parts of how we work. Small groups let us offer close, personal guidance and a calmer, safer space, with care shaped around each person rather than a crowd. Ceremonies at our home are for a max of three guests.
-
Integration is part of the journey, not an afterthought. We offer integration circles during your stay and online support once you return home, so the insights from your ceremonies settle into daily life. One-to-one coaching is also available if you would like deeper, ongoing support.
